Easily track charitable donations with help from Eno

Let Eno, your Capital One assistant, help make it easy to find past charitable donations during tax season.

Giving to the community and helping organizations that share your passions is a great way to give back. But when tax season rolls around, finding all the donations you made that may be eligible for a tax deduction is often tedious. Spending time sifting through receipts or scrolling through your transaction history can add a layer of stress to an already tension-filled time. As the tax deadline looms, it’s also possible you might overlook some significant contributions.

For Capital One credit card customers, Eno, your Capital One assistant, streamlines the process of helping to track down charitable donations. Rather than having to pinpoint a year’s worth of contributions yourself, Eno does the heavy lifting for you. Eno looks for the transactions you made that appear to be donations. You’ll then receive a list of these contributions at the beginning of each year, well ahead of the tax filing deadline.

How does Eno track charitable donations?

If you use your Capital One credit card to make contributions to eligible charitable organizations throughout the year, Eno gathers all the charitable donations it spots throughout the year into a list so you are ready for tax season.

If you receive emails from Capital One, Eno will send you the list which contains information regarding your potential donations, including the name of the organization and the date you made your first donation, how many times you’ve donated to that organization and the total amount you gave to that organization. Eno will send you this accumulated list of donations for the past year before tax deadlines, allowing ample time for you to review them before filing.

Once you receive this list of donations from Eno, you can take some time to review the items. You’ll have the chance to evaluate which ones apply to your tax situation. The IRS has certain criteria for charitable donations, and you can use this helpful tool from the IRS to see whether the gift you made is eligible for a tax deduction. You may also decide to discuss the donations with your tax adviser to determine which contributions might be considered tax deductible.

What else can Eno do?

Eno works around the clock to provide you with other helpful insights about your money. For instance, if you donate to the same charity each month, Eno may notice if the charge is higher one month than others, and reach out to check whether you were indeed planning to donate more that month.

Eno also watches out for other unusual account activity. If Eno notices a transaction that may be fraudulent, Eno will send you a message about it. Once you review the transaction, Eno will provide you with steps to help resolve the issue.

When you shop online, Eno can create virtual card numbers to help you check out more securely and allow you to keep your actual card number to yourself. If you have questions about your account, you can ask Eno when you're signed into your account online, in the Capital One Mobile app, or via text to get an answer right away. You can also use these methods to check on your current balance, ask about your available credit or find out when your credit card payment is due.
